True to the tradition of the Gionee M6 Series, the M6 Lite comes with mid-range specification combined with a large battery. As the ‘Lite’ tag indicates, the latest handset do feature toned down specs in comparison to its predecessors. Still, Gionee has increased the screen area of the smartphone and managed to keep the premium build quality intact. The M6 Lite comes with a metal construction but lacks the fingerprint scanner.
Gionee M6 Lite: Specs
Up front, the Gionee M6 Lite flaunts a 6-inch HD display with 2.5D curvature. The octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 SoC sits inside the device. This is a mid-level chipset with eight Cortex A53 cores capable of going up to 1.8 GHz each. Coming to the memory, the Gionee N6 Lite sports 3 GB of LPDDR3 RAM along with 32 GB of onboard storage. There is a dedicated micro SD card slot supporting up to 256 GB memory cards. Talking about software, the newly launched smartphone runs on Amigo UI 3.5 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This is Gionee’s own custom user interface and comes with a few additional tricks up its sleeves. The M6 Lite comes with a decent camera hardware with a 13 MP primary shooter and 5 MP selfie unit. The former supports PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) and can shoot Full HD (1080 x 1920) videos at 30 fps. There is a dedicated LED flash at the back and screen flash for selfies.
As mentioned above, the Gionee M6 Lite boasts a large 4000mAh battery. The company claims that this fast charge enabled cell can easily return two days of power backup under normal usage. The dual SIM smartphone supports 4G LTE and comes with the usual set of connectivity options. Speaking of color choices, there are three variants, Gold, Blue, and Brown. The latter looks a lot like the Gunmetal colored OnePlus 3T.
Gionee M6 Lite: Price and Availability
Price-wise, the Gionee M6 Lite sits right at in the mid-range segment. In Kenya, it costs Ksh 19,999 (Rs. 13,375 or $197 USD approx.). In the forthcoming Black Friday Sale starting from November 24, 2016, the smartphone will be sold at an attractive price of Ksh 13,999 (Rs. 9360 or $138 USD approx.). As of now, Gionee hasn’t yet disclosed any plans about global availability of the M6 Lite.
