HTC Desire 500 which was recently listed on HTC India website is now available for pre-order on the online retail site Snapdeal for Rs 999. The final price will be revealed soon enough when the device is ready for shipping.
HTC Desire 500 is a Dual SIM device which is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 Quad core processor based on Cortex A5 architecture (MT6589 Chipset is Cortex A7 Architecture) which is quite obsolete now. The cores in the processor are clocked at a frequency of 1.2 GHz and assisted by Adreno 203 GPU. The RAM capacity is 1 GB and the internal Storage is 4 GB and can be further extended to 64 GB using a microSD card. The display of this smartphone is 4.3 Inches in size and sports WVGA resolution with 480 x 800 pixels. This gives you a pixel density of 217 ppi which is average clarity display. The phone runs on Android 4.1 jelly bean operating system with HTC Sense 5 UI on top of it. The primary camera is of 8 MP which is pretty standard configuration in the budget quad core devices in the range 10,000 to 15,000 INR. This autofocus camera has 1.4 micrometer pixel size which is larger than the conventional pixel and will expectedly give better low light performance. An LED flash is also present for low light photography. This camera can record 720p HD videos at 30 fps. A secondary camera of 1.6 MP is also present for video calling. The battery capacity is 1800 mAh which will give you standby time of around 435 hrs and Ample talk time of up to 12 Hours on 3G. Connectivity features include Bluetooth, GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, DLNA and GPS with AGPS support. HTC has provided with a configuration which with the advantage of HTC Brand name, is worth competing with Phones like Panasonic T11, Lava Iris 504q, and Micromax Canvas HD. HTC has announced that it wants to expand its user base in India and a competitive pricing of this smartphone will be a start.
