Physical Overview

Huawei has continued with its iPhone-esque design with the P10. With a minimalist design overall, the front of the phone is adorned by a very good quality 5.1 inch IPS Neo LCD display. The back is also devoid of any major distractions, with the a small Huawei logo in the middle and the camera module near the top. Antenna bands run around the edges of the phone, giving the overall design a nice touch.

Above the display, you will find the front camera, ambient light sensor and the notification LED. The front camera is an 8 MP snapper with an f/1.9 aperture.

Below the display, you will find the home button which also has a fingerprint sensor embedded into it. Huawei has added fingerprint gestures support, allowing you to use it for navigation.

The right side of the P10 has the volume rocker and the power button. The power button is textured so it’s easier to click and spot it without having to look at it.

The left side houses the SIM card slot. Other than that, it is bare.

Coming to the backside, you will find that it is pretty bare for the most part. The Huawei logo is decently small. The camera module is present near the top. Huawei P10 comes with a Dual camera setup – 12 MP + 20 MP with an f/2.2 aperture. Next to the two sensors is the dual tone LED flash.

The top of the phone is bare, except for the secondary earpiece for noise cancellation.

The bottom of the phone houses the 3.5mm audio jack, the loudspeaker, USB Type C port and the primary mic.

Display

The Huawei P10 comes with a 5.1 inch full HD IPS Neo LCD display. At a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels on a 5.1 inch display, you get a pixel density of 434 PPI. The display is covered by a 2.5D curved glass for improved viewing angles. It is protected by the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 5, with improved scratch resistance.

As far as the bezels are concerned, the P10 has very thin bezels on the sides. The top and the bottom bezels are quite big, though, compared to some other smartphones launched recently.

Hardware

The Huawei P10 features the company’s own HiSilicon Kirin 960 SoC. It comes with an octa-core processor with four 2.4 GHz Cortex-A73 cores and four 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 cores, featuring a big.LITTLE setup. The graphics are handled by Mali-G71 MP8 GPU. In terms of memory, the P10 comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, expandable with a microSD card up to 256GB.

Camera Overview

The major attraction of the Huawei P10 is its camera. Or rather, cameras. On the rear, you will find a dual camera setup featuring Leica optics. Huawei has included a primary 12 MP colour camera and a 20 MP secondary Black and White camera. While the 12 MP main camera sensor takes a color picture, images captured by the 20 MP sensor are used for depth of field details. The camera software then combines the two images to form a single image.

Price and Availability

Huawei has priced the P10 at 649 Euros (Rs. 45,500 approx). The device will be available in Graphite Black, Ceramic White, Dazzling Blue, Dazzling Gold, Mystic Silver, Rose Gold and Greenery color options. Talking of availability, the smartphone will go on sale from next month itself in some selected countries.

Conclusion

The Huawei P10 with its dual camera setup is a very good option for people who are concerned more about the image quality. It also looks quite premium. The processor along with the 4GB RAM should help the device to work smoothly enough. It comes with Android 7.0 Nougat and a full HD display.
