Although it takes a lot of practice to keep the tabs in your spatial memory, a simple Chrome extension can solve the issue of switching between the right tabs easily. RELATED: Run Android Apps From Google Chrome
Switch Between 50+ Tabs Using Go to Tab Extension
Go to Tab is a lightweight Chrome extension that seeks to act as spotlight search for Google Chrome. Using the extension is as simple as pressing the default hotkey Control (Command on Mac) + K to toggle between the extension’s search window. After the pop-up window shows itself, search & choose from a list of tabs using the directional keys and hit enter. Pressing the X button next to the tabs will close it down. If multiple windows are open, the extension also does a good job of listing those too.
Drawbacks
Since the extension itself is new, it does have a few bugs like closing the extension pop-up as soon as a single tab is closed. While it doesn’t aim to compete with launchers like QuickSilver & Alfred, it has the potential to be more just a tool for switching between tabs if the developer chooses to implement features like launching shortcuts & performing custom searches directly from the text box. Likewise, features such as filters for sorting the tab list and the ability to set custom keyboard shortcuts would be welcome additions if implemented in the future.
Conclusion
Go to Tab proves itself to be a great tool to quickly switch between a long list of tabs with minimal effort even if it lacks a bit in the features department. RELATED: Enable Clipboard Sync Between Android Devices & Desktop
