KaiOS 2.5 can run on just 256MB RAM
This new feature phone operating system will support devices with RAM as low as 256MB or 512MB. The collaboration with Airfind, Facebook, Google, and Twitter will provide more third-party apps experience to the feature phones running KaiOS. KaiOS Technologies also promised to bring the Google Voice Assistant, Google Maps, Google Search and more Google apps to the Nokia 8110 4G.
These apps will also be available to other devices running KaiOS including the Alcatel OneTouch Go Flip and the JioPhone. The company also confirmed collaborations with manufacturers like Bullitt, Doro, HMD Global, and Micromax to expand the lineup of KaiOS powered feature phones. The KaiOS powered feature phones will also be available in markets like Sri Lanka and UAE with NXP, Spreadtrum and Qualcomm partnership. Further, the company revealed that KaiOS powered feature phones will also get embedded tech like NFC, Secure Element and LTE. Sebastian Codeville, CEO, KaiOS Technologies commented on the announcement, “Thanks to the backbone of our partner’s high-performance chipsets, KaiOS is bringing a whole new generation of affordable devices to life. Going forward, we’ll intensify our efforts with Spreadtrum and strengthen our product portfolio in the 3G and 4G market.”
