Camera and Internal Storage
The rear camera is an 8 MP Auto focus unit with BSI+ or BSI 2 sensor and Dual LED flash support for Low light conditions. The pixel size is also quite large at 1.4 micrometer and this means that the Iris X1 will be able to accept more light for better performance in low light conditions. You can also record 1080p Full HD videos. The Camera is expected to out-shine Moto E’s fixed focus shooter, but it will be interesting to watch how it stacks up against Micromax Unite 2. Camera specs are the standout feature of Iris X1. Internal storage is standard 4 GB and can be extended to 32 GB using MicroSD storage. The storage is quite standard in this price range. We will soon confirm if it’s possible to transfer apps or install apps on SD card. Lava has also provided with USB OTG support, which will enable you to connect external storage flash drive directly to iris X1.
Processor and Battery
The processor used is 1.2 GHz Broadcom BCM23550 processor, backed by 1 GB RAM, which wasn’t as impressive on Xolo Q1000 Opus, but is an attractive proposition in this price range. Videocore GPU will handle graphic performance and we expect the chipset to suffice for moderate usage. We will talk more about the performance aspect in our full review. Battery capacity used is 1800 mAh and Lava hasn’t specified figures to indicate how much backup you can extract from it. The battery rating is above average but lesser than Unite 2 and Moto E.
Display and Other Features
The display is 4.5 inches in size and bears FWVGA 854 X 480 Pixel resolution. This amounts to fairly useable 217 pixels per inches, considering the price. For better display experience, Lava has laminated the display for closer display experience. Unlike Moto E, you won’t get Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Moto E will also offer a more crisp, but smaller display with qHD resolution.
Comparison
Iris X1 will compete against the likes of Moto E, Unite 2, Lava Iris 406Q and Micromax Canvas Engage which will cost you slightly lesser. We can expect several other value for money devices to join this list pretty soon.

Conclusion and Price
Lava Iris X1 priced at 7,999 INR is more expensive than other rivals but for the added price, you will get a better camera, USB OTG support, dual Mic for Noise cancellation and a flip cover. The phone checks all right boxes and will give you good value for your money. However, higher brand value devices like Moto E and Unite 2 which also offer good user experience will mark a huge dent in its sales.
