MediaTek Helio P60 features
For the uninitiated, MediaTek is one of the major players when it comes to affordable performance processors for mid-range devices. The company is active in the Indian market as well and now brings a new MediaTek Helio P60 Octa-core processor. This new SoC comes with dedicated multi-core APU (Artificial Intelligence Processing Unit) which gives it more capabilities. This means that the processor can support advanced features like facial recognition and bring them down to mid-range smartphones. Coming to the camera support, the tri-core ISP on the Helio P60 allows it to support a 20MP + 16MP Dual camera or a 32MP single camera setup at the back. The new ISP is also up to 18% energy efficient. In terms of display, the processor supports up to Full HD+ resolution displays with an aspect ratio as much as 20:9 which is good. It can pack up to 8GB RAM UFS 2.1 or eMMC 5.1 storage formats. Performance is the main aspect of a processor and the MediaTek Hello P60 looks promising in terms of performance. The SoC is clocked at 2.0GHz with big.LITTLE architecture that pairs four ARM A73 processors with four ARM A53. The setup is backed by an ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU clocked at up to 800MHz. The SoC is claimed to deliver up to 25% power savings in heavy duty gaming situations.
