Build Quality, Design and Form Factor
The build quality of canvas doodle 2 is really good and much better then the previous phones we have seen from Micromax, it has a non removable aluminum back side which cannot be removed so the battery cannot come out of the device which is not a good thing for many out there. The finish of the phone from the back side is nice and its quite slim as well at 8.9 mm being a huge 5.7 inch display device. The design seems to be following the same language as we had seen on the canvas 4 and it nice sleek device with great feel in hand due to metal in hand however it may feel little heavier at 220 grams but not too bad weight for 5.7 inch display device. The form factor is good as the device has curved back which makes it easy to hold and carry and its slim profile makes it easy to carry in your jeans or trouser pocket but because of the display the one handed usage of this device quite limited.
Camera Performance
The rear camera is a 12MP shooter with LED Flash and the camera performance is pretty good in day light but in low light its not too good and photos may not be very clear and the front camera is 5 MP fixed focus so it is capable of doing a good quality of video chat, the good quality self portrait shots can be taken with slight noise in the photos which you can easily notice. You can checkout some camera samples below taken from the back camera.

Display, Memory and Battery Backup
5.7 inch display is IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 16M color with 720 x 1280 pixels, 5.7 inches and sports ~258 ppi pixel density. The display is quite bright but not so good in the color saturations levels but viewing angles of the display are quite wide with little amount of color fading at extreme viewing angles. You have 16Gb internal memory with 13Gb available to the user but you don’t not have the option on expanding storage on the device as it does not have the MicroSD card slot. The battery backup is good as we got around 1 Day complete backup with moderate usage with tasks like video playback, played some games likes Temple Run Oz, Front line Commando D Day etc but for heavy gamers it may not give you complete one day of backup.
Software, Benchmarks and Gaming
The software UI is stock android and quite snappy but you might notice occasional lags during heavy processing scenarios like running too many resources hungry apps. The device is pretty good for gaming for both casual and medium graphic intensive games but in heavy games like Nova 3 and Modern Combat 4 it does play them but with little graphic lag at times. Sound, Video and Navigation
The sound quality of the loud speaker is quite loud and in call clarity is also pretty good if not the best and the sound quality from the supplied in ear headphones is also better. The device is capable of playing the HD videos both at 720p and 1080p and for some videos which are not playable you can try the third party video player app called Mxplayer. It can be used for GPS navigation as well but it works on assisted GPS and the GPS locking may take some minutes and it also has the Magnetic Field Sensor.

Conclusion and Price
Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 comes for a price of Rs. 17,000 approx. It has great build quality, decent form factor bing a phablet device and it’s a decent performer too both on the application level and gaming front. The only drawbacks which we could notice is the Non removable battery and fixed internal storage which is again not a low in terms of the actual usable space on the device as user gets around 13Gb available which is quite sufficient for many users but not all.
