Moto G4 Physical Overview

The Build Quality and Design of Moto G4 is exactly similar to Moto G4 Plus. Moto G4 features a 5.5 inches Display with 71.2% screen-to-body ratio. Its Dimensions are 153 x 76.6 x 9.8 mm and it weighs just 155 grams, which is very less considering a 5.5 inch Display and 3000 mAh Battery under the hood. It has a Plastic Body with Good Grip and removable back cover.

A 5.5 inch display certainly can be difficult to handle with one hand if you have small hands. It can be difficult to reach diagonally opposite corners of the screen. Leaving the size aside, the phone may not be Metallic but it looks Nice and Sporty. Let us take a look at the phone from different angles. Front Top features a Loudspeaker Grill, Front Camera and Proximity and Ambient & light Sensors.

At the bottom there are 3 On screen navigation keys and Primary mic but Fingerprint Sensor is not there as in case of Moto G4 Plus

A nice Vertical Camera setup at the top center of the back panel with LED flash placed right below the camera.

Power/Lock key and volume adjustment key is on the right hand side of the phone.

3.5 mm audio jack is placed on the top, right in the middle.

Micro USB port is at the bottom edge.

Once you remove the Back Panel, you will see the SIM 1 & 2 Slots and a dedicated microSD Slot.

Display

The Moto G4 has a big 5.5 inch IPS LCD Display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The display comes with a pixel density of 401 ppi and color depth of 16M colors. The Display comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Protection. The Display specifications are exactly similar to Moto G4 Plus. With these specs, the display is very sharp with good brightness. Color reproduction and Viewing angles were also as good as Plus variant.

Camera Overview

The Moto G4 is equipped with a 13 MP Primary camera which is a little downgraded as compared to the 16 MP Camera in the Moto G4 Plus. The Primary Camera comes with Color balancing dual LED flash, ƒ / 2.0 aperture, Quick Capture, 4X digital zoom etc. It also enables you to Drag to focus & exposure and Tap (anywhere) to capture photos. It supports 1080p HD video @ 30fps and features various modes like Professional Mode, Burst mode, Auto HDR and Panorama among others.

The Front has a 5 MP Camera with ƒ / 2.2 aperture and display flash which is similar to Moto G4 Plus. The Camera quality (both Rear and Front) is good in terms of clarity and details. Obviously, the 13 MP Rear Camera cannot be compared with the 16 MP in Moto G4 Plus, but with the lower price tag the camera quality is reasonably good.

Gaming Performance

We know that the G4 comes with the same hardware found in the G4 Plus and we also know it is quite capable. I played Modern Combat 5 on this smartphone and the game play was very smooth and did not show any lag in the beginning of the game. As the game proceeded, I noticed that the game was turning out to be a little slow in graphic intense areas but closing all the background apps fixed this problem at once. As far as the heating is concerned, the Moto G4 was getting a little warm but I did not find it uncomfortable at any point of time. I Played Modern Combat 5 for 30 minutes and noticed a battery drop of 13% when the Wi-Fi and cellular data was off.
