The Nokia 3 comes with a MediaTek chipset, making it the only smartphone from HMD which comes with a chipset from a company other than Qualcomm. HMD Global previously revealed that the Nokia 3 will receive the new Android update after the Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 only because of the MediaTek chipset. These smartphones had already received Android Oreo update nearly a month ago.
Sarvikas also said that the Nokia 2, which is an entry-level smartphone would receive the update, however, the Nokia 2 will get the Android 8.1 Oreo update directly because it comes with 1 GB RAM. Android Go has been optimized accordingly for devices with RAM as low as 1GB. The Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 have already received the Android Oreo beta update over a month ago, and these devices will receive the stable update in a couple of weeks. HMD has promised the Android Oreo update for the Nokia 6, and Nokia 5 but the devices haven’t received the stable update yet. HMD Global also rolled out the Android 8.1 Beta update for Nokia 8 users recently, and the stable update will soon hit the device. If you own a Nokia 3, then you have to wait a little longer to receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update. HMD Global will roll out the beta version of the Android 8.1 Oreo before the stable update.
