The realme X2 with its features like 3D glass body, Super AMOLED display, Snapdragon 730G processor, 64MP camera and 30W fast charger, has become a favorite in the mid-range segment. Whereas Xiaomi has its Redmi Note 8 Pro smartphone in this segment that also comes with great features, the 64-megapixel camera being one among them. Because of the 64-megapixel camera, and similar price range, both of these smartphones are now strong competitors in the market. So, we have compared the Redmi Note 8 Pro and the Realme X2 based on the specs, features, and price in India.

Realme X2 Vs Redmi Note 8 Pro

Design: Glass Bodies

Starting with the Redmi Note 8 Pro, the phone sports a glass body with a new gradient finish at the back. The device has a dot notch display on the front. The front and back both are protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The device is 8.8mm thick and has 200g weight.

The Realme X2 also has the glass back with a subtle gradient finish just like the Realme XT and front has a notch display. Its front and back are also protected by Gorilla Glass 5. However, it is thinner and lighter than Redmi Note 8 Pro.

One thing in the design that makes the difference is the Realme X2 comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner while the Redmi Note 8 Pro has a rear-mounted scanner.

Display: IPS LCD Vs Super AMOLED

The Redmi Note 8 Pro sports a 6.53-inch FHD+ display with a small dot notch at the top and offers a 91.4% screen-to-body ratio. The panel is also protected by GG5.

The Realme X2 also features a similar waterdrop notch 6.4-inch FHD+ display which allows it a 91.9% screen-to-body ratio. However, the big difference here is that Realme X2 has a Super AMOLED panel, which makes it brighter and richer in colors.

Processor: Helio G90T Vs Snapdragon 730G

Coming to the hardware, the Redmi Note 8 Pro is powered by MediaTek’s gaming based Helio G90T chipset. Interestingly, the Realme X2 also uses a gaming-focused Snapdragon 730G chipset.

In terms of gaming performance, you could not find much difference in both of them. However, G90T may offer better gaming on the Redmi Note 8 Pro and additionally, it also comes with liquid cooling to keep the phone cool while gaming hard. Both the smartphones pack up to 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. You can also check their AnTuTu benchmark scores below and see the difference.

Rear Cameras: 64MP Quad Camera

In the camera department, both Redmi Note 8 Pro and Realme X2 sport a quad-rear camera setup. These phones come with a primary 64-megapixel GW1 sensor, a secondary ultra-wide 8-megapixel sensor, 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth camera. The phones also get EIS and up to 4K video recording support.

Coming to the camera comparison, both the phones usually take the same quality pictures. In daylight, they offer good detailing and capture natural colors. But I find Redmi Note 8 Pro’s image more colorful. If we talk about 64MP pictures, they both capture a really good and detailed picture with a high resolution. However, here again, Realme lacks in colors and its picture looks a bit faded, while Redmi offers rich colors. In low light, they click average quality pictures. These phones also come with a dedicated night mode as well. Here, I find Realme is doing a good job when light is low. They both have macro camera also, and in macro mode, Redmi Note 8 Pro offers good detailing as well as colors. Overall, they both click good pictures in all the modes, but if you like more colorful pictures then you will surely gonna like Redmi Note 8 Pro more.

Selfie Camera: 20MP Vs 16MP

For selfies, the Redmi Note 8 Pro has a 20-megapixel sensor, while the Realme X2 has a 16-megapixel sensor. Let’s take a look at the pictures taken from both. In daylight, they both click detailed selfie but just like the rear camera, Redmi Note 8 Pro again offers more colors in the selfie as well. Overall, we can say Redmi Note 8 Pro takes the lead in front camera. However, Realme X2 also clicks natural-looking selfies and you can always upload them on your social accounts.

Battery & Fast Charging

The Realme X2 packs a 4,000mAh battery whereas the Redmi Note 8 Pro has a slightly bigger 4,500mAh unit. The Redmi phone comes with an 18W fast charger, while the Realme X2 comes with a 30W VOOC fast charger.

Software: MIUI Vs ColorOS

The Redmi Note 8 Pro comes running on Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 10 on top and it will be upgraded to Android 10 based MIUI 11 soon. The Realme X2 runs on Android 9 Pie-based ColorOS 6 on top and it will also get the latest software update in Q1 2020. Both phones also come with the usual set of apps in their custom UI.

Others

Connectivity features on both the phones are the same including 3.5mm headphone jack and USB Type C port and they both also have dedicated card slots.

Price

Redmi Note 8 Pro starts from Rs. 14,999 for 6GB+64GB variant. The 6GB+128GB and 8GB + 128GB models of the phone cost Rs. 15,999 and Rs. 17,999 respectively. Realme X2 price in India starts at Rs. 16,999 for the 4GB+64GB model. The 6GB+128GB model is priced at Rs. 18,999 while the top-end 8GB+128GB model is priced at Rs. 19,999.

Wrapping Up

Both mid-range smartphones come with mostly similar specs and features. If you prefer AMOLED panel over LCD and an in-display fingerprint sensor over the traditional sensor, you should go for the Realme X2, but you will have to pay Rs. 2,000 more for these things and you will also get less RAM. The Redmi Note 8 Pro, on the other hand, comes with a bigger battery, more powerful chipset, liquid cooling, and yes, Alexa built-in too, all that at a lesser price. So, the choice is yours now!
