Display and Processor
The first Note device pretty much stood alone in the software arena and was admired for its 5.2 Inch size, but things have changed drastically since then. Phablets are a hit in today’s market all across the globe. Samsung Galaxy Note 2 features a 5.5 Inch Super AMOLED display with HD 720p Resolution thus giving you a pixel density of 248 ppi. The new Note 3 features a slightly bigger 5.7 Inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD resolution of 1080p giving you a pixel density of 386 ppi which is stunning for this size display. You won’t notice any resolved pixels. Note 2 is powered by a 1.6 GHz Quad core Cortex A9 processor with Mali-400MP GPU this processor was backed by a RAM capacity of 2 GB for smooth and powerful performance. The Note 3 in India will come with Exynos Octa core processor which includes Quad-core 1.9 GHz Cortex-A15 and quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 processors along wth Adreno 330 GPU. This is the similar processor seen in Samsung Galaxy S4. A 2.3 GHz Quad core Snapdragon 800 processor with LTE support will be present in the USA version. The RAM capacity is 3 GB which is highest so far provided in any phablet. Yes this is a significant improvement in processor performance!!
Camera and Memory
Note 2 features a 8 MP Autofocus primary camera capable of 1080p FHD video recording at 30 fps. The 13 MP camera in Note 3 can record 2160p videos at 30 fps, the LTE version is also capable of Ultra HD 4K recording. Both cameras feature a LED flash and features like Simultaneous HD video recording and image recording. Note 3 comes with an added Dual shot feature. The secondary camera of both devices has a 2 MP sensor but in Note 3 the primary camera is capable of FHD 1080p video recording as well!! The internal storage remains similar in both these phablets. Note 2 came in 16/32/64 GB variants with MicroSD card support. Note three comes in 32 GB and 64 GB variants only with microSD card support.
Battery and Features
Battery capacity of note 2 was 3100 mAh and it gives you up to 16 Hrs of 3G talk time Note 3 has a 3200 mAh battery, but this battery will be taxed more by the power hungry FHD display and powerful processor. Samsung has not yet specified the talk time you can squeeze out of this 3200 mAh battery. Key Specs
Of course Note 3 comes with better hardware specifications, as it is the successor of Note 2 launched with a year time difference. But the point to be noted is that Samsung has succeeded in pushing the technology to its edge yet again with this new Note series Phablet. The Hardware specifications are unmatched and Samsung has also revamped the looks and style with the new Note 3 sporting faux leather back with stitching along the edges, which accounts for a better back cover feel. Also Note 3 is Sleeker (8.3 mm vs 9.4 mm) and lighter (168 g vs 183 g) than Note 2 .
