Xiaomi had teased this smartphone when it launched the Xiaomi Mi TV 4A, there was a little teaser in the launch video. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 is expected to be priced at Rs. 6,999 for the 2GB RAM variant and Rs. 8,999 for the 3GB RAM variant. The smartphone might also come in a 4GB RAM variant just like we saw on the Xiaomi Redmi 4.
Xiaomi Redmi 5 Specifications
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 is expected to feature a 5.7 inch HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) display and it will come with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The bezels are still available but it will be thinner than traditional 16:9 aspect ratio smartphones.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 will be coming with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC which is an octa-core processor running at a clock rate of 1.8 GHz paired with Adreno 506 GPU. The internal storage will be 16GB and 32GB which will be expandable via microSD card. The smartphone is expected to feature a 12MP camera for rear and 5MP camera for selfies with Beautify 3.0 to enhance selfies. There will be a fingerprint sensor placed at the back of the smartphone just below the camera module. The smartphone is expected to be powered by a 3,300mAh battery.
